The HRFC Women’s team has a long-standing history of community, competition, and camaraderie. We proudly field both a competitive Division 1 and Division 2 team, offering opportunities for all skill levels.

Our players come from a wide range of backgrounds — from seasoned veterans with years of experience to newcomers picking up a rugby ball for the first time. No matter your experience level, there’s a place for you at HRFC!

Coach's Bio

Janice Cougle

Head Coach Janice Cougle is deeply involved in rugby as a player, coach, and referee. Along with the HRFC teams she currently coaches the Nova Scotia Keltics U18 Provincial team and was just announced as the Head Coach for Saint Mary's University Huskies.

Proud to call Nova Scotia home since 2010. Janice moved from Lethbridge Alberta where she originally started playing rugby. She played her university rugby career with the Lethbridge Pronghorns, winning three straight CIS and Canada West titles (2007–2009). After moving east, she coached the Acadia Axewomen before returning as a player in 2015–2016, leading them to their first AUS title and back-to-back CIS Nationals.

Janice is a firm believer in rugby as a powerful tool for personal growth and development. She is passionate about creating an environment where her players not only enjoy the game but also strive to become the best versions of themselves—both on and off the field. Equally important to her is instilling the value of giving back to the sport and the community, encouraging her athletes to lead with respect, integrity, and a sense of responsibility.
